Exactly the layering piece I needed

I made the Sookie bolero in size M and it fit exactly as expected without any changes. I used a lightweight rib knit and really liked how the shrug sits neatly at the shoulders without slipping. This was my first bolero-style garment and it paired perfectly over a sleeveless dress I already owned. Ill definitely make another in a different fabric.

Great everyday layering piece

I made this to throw over tank tops and dresses, and its been surprisingly useful. The finished shrug is lightweight and comfortable without feeling bulky. I used a rayon spandex knit in size M and didnt need to adjust anything. Its already been worn multiple times.

Good value for a versatile pattern

For such a simple-looking garment, the pattern feels well thought out. Im an intermediate sewist and enjoyed how quickly it came together without feeling sloppy. I used the A0 files and cut on the floor, which saved time. This feels like a pattern Ill reuse often.

Beginner-friendly and not intimidating

Im still a beginner and was nervous about knits, but this was very manageable. I followed the instructions step by step and didnt feel lost at any point. I made a size L in cotton jersey and finished it in one evening. It gave me a lot more confidence to try knit patterns again.

Nice fit but I sized up for comfort

I usually sit between sizes, so I chose to size up and Im glad I did. The shrug still looks fitted but feels more comfortable through the arms. I used a modal stretch knit which drapes nicely. Overall Im happy with it, though I might experiment with sleeve length next time.

How do I figure out the right size?
Before selecting a pattern size, take accurate measurements of your bust, waist, and hips. Choose the size from our chart that closely aligns with your measurements.
If your bust/waist/hip measurements align with different sizes, you would want to choose the size based on the apparel category or the garment fit and make adjustments to blend sizes. For example, prefer the size based on your bust measurement for making a top, and waist measurement for a relaxed dress cinched at the waist.
If your measurements fall between sizes, consider the fit you prefer (looser or tighter) and the type of fabric you'll use, as some fabrics have more give. All patterns include finished garment measurements which can be helpful to know how much ease or extra room is built into the design.
