Put it on and did not want to take it off

There is something very satisfying about wearing a garment you made yourself and actually forgetting you made it because it feels so normal and wearable. Riley gave me that feeling. It looks like a real top, not a home-sewn project.

Slight tweak needed at the neckband but nothing major

The neckband came out slightly wavy on my first attempt, which I think was a tension issue on my machine rather than the pattern. I redid it and the second attempt was fine. The rest of the construction was smooth and the finished top looks great.

Fits better than anything I find in shops

I have a shorter torso and longer arms, a combination that makes off-the-rack tops fit badly. I graded between sizes at the waist and the fit is genuinely better than anything I buy. Worth every minute of making it.

Finally feel confident tackling a placket

Plackets always scared me and I kept avoiding patterns that had them. The instructions here broke it into small steps and I actually understood what I was doing. My placket is neat and the buttons line up properly. That felt like a real milestone.

Third version and still finding new things to like

I have now made this in cotton jersey, a brushed hacci knit, and a modal blend. Each one behaves a bit differently and the pattern handles all of them well. The fit is consistent across makes which is what I want from a reliable pattern.
