Men's Shorts Sewing Pattern 'Wyatt'

I made the Wyatt shorts in US 38 from cotton jersey (about 40% stretch) and they came together faster than I expected. The steps for the waistband and drawstring were straightforward, and the layered PDF made it easy to print only my size. They�ve become the pair I grab first for lounging at home.

I chose US 44 and used French terry with a little elastane, and the relaxed fit through the thigh is exactly what I wanted. The side pockets sit nicely and don�t flare out, and the back patch pocket is perfect for a phone around the house. My partner wore them the next day and asked for a second pair.

I cut the projector file for US 40 and appreciated having the seam allowance as its own layer option. The pieces aligned cleanly, and I didn�t have to guess where anything went. I used rib knit for the waistband area and jersey for the body, and the drawstring waist feels adjustable without being bulky.

I sewed US 42 in a lightweight performance knit (around 30�35% stretch) and kept the above-knee length as drafted. They work well for light workouts because the elastic waist stays put and the fit isn�t tight through the hips. I�ll probably make another pair and shorten the inseam by 1" for running.

These were my first menswear project and I didn�t feel lost, even with pockets. I made US 34 in cotton spandex jersey, and the instructions helped me keep the waistband casing neat. Pulling them on at the end was a real confidence boost.
