Fabric Cutting and Preparation
Prepare your fabric before sewing by following these steps.
Lay Out Your Pattern Pieces
Arrange the pattern pieces according to the cutting layout diagrams. Position each piece so the grainline arrow runs parallel to the fabric selvage.
Cut Your Fabric
If using fabric shears, trace the pattern pieces before cutting. Cut carefully outside any pen, pencil, or chalk lines, and remember to clip all notches, as these markings help align the garment during assembly.
Transfer Pattern Markings
Transfer all pattern markings to the wrong side of the fabric using chalk, a fabric pencil, or a washable marker. Transfer all notches, dart markings, and any center markings indicated on the pattern.
Seam Allowance
Please follow the seam allowances as indicated on the pattern's file layers. These are provided specifically for each piece to ensure accurate construction.
This pattern uses 1 cm (3/8") seam allowance all around, 6.4 cm (2 1/2") at the hem, 0.6 cm (1/4") at the center back and side back of the top side and at the armhole and neck of the front bodice. The neck bind and strap pieces are drafted without seam allowance.
Step-by-Step Sewing Instructions
1. Finish the Darts
1a. Place the two dart legs of each back bottom piece (Pattern B) right sides together, aligning the seamline. Sew along the dart seamline, then press the dart toward the center. Repeat for the second back bottom piece.
1b. Repeat Step 1a for both front bottom pieces (Pattern A).
1c. For the front bodice (Pattern C), sew both side seam darts in the same manner. Then align the top and bottom legs of the center dart and stitch along the straight seamline.
2. Attach the Side Pockets
2a. Place the side pocket (Pattern H) on the front bottom with right sides together, aligning the pocket opening seam. Sew along the seamline.
2b. Open the pocket away from the garment and understitch close to the pocket seam on the pocket side.
2c. Turn the pocket to the wrong side, press, and topstitch along the pocket opening edge.
2d. Turn the front bottom so the wrong side is facing up. Fold the pocket in half at the center notch with right sides together.
2e. Align the pocket side seams and the pocket curve with the front bottom. Sew around the pocket seamline to form the pocket bag.
2f. Baste the pocket and front bottom together along the waist seam allowance and the top edge of the pocket to keep everything aligned for the next construction steps.
3. Join the Front Crotch
3a. Place both front bottom pieces right sides together and align the front crotch seam.

8b. Repeat the same process for the left zipper tape, attaching it to the prepared left back jumpsuit piece.
8c. Close the zipper and place the back jumpsuit pieces right sides together. Sew the remaining center back seam, beginning 1–2 cm above the zipper end and continuing to the zipper. 10d. Press each strap (Pattern I) into four folds to prepare it for binding the armholes.
10e. Place one folded edge of the strap on the front jumpsuit piece with right sides together. Align the armhole edges and sew along the armhole seamline.
10f. Turn the strap to the wrong side, press, and fold the remaining open edge over the seam allowance to enclose the raw edge. Edge stitch along the folded strap from the armhole to the end of the strap.
10g. Repeat Steps 10d–10f for the second strap and the remaining armhole.
11. Sew the Side Seams
11a. Place the front and back jumpsuit sections right sides together, carefully matching all corresponding seams.
11b. Sew along both side seams.
12. Sew the Inseams
Place the front and back jumpsuit pieces right sides together. Align the inseams from one hem, through the crotch, and down to the opposite hem. Sew continuously along the inseam.
