Style & Story

Description:
The Shirred Dress combines feminine allure with comfort, featuring a beautifully shirred bodice that stretches to fit and flared sleeves that add a touch of romance. The flared skirt swings playfully, and the charming floral print blooms across the fabric, making it perfect for any season.

Styling:
This dress can be dressed up with heels and statement jewelry or kept casual with sandals for a day in the park. It's an all-occasion piece that effortlessly adapts to both day and night settings.

Find Your Fit

The shirred bodice provides a snug fit that adapts to your shape, while the flared skirt offers freedom of movement.

The model is 5'5" with a 36" bust, 32" waist and 40" hip. She is wearing a size Medium. Given the shirring on the waist and the flare skirt, its more flexible.

It is advisable to choose your size based on your bust measurement primarily.

Nice pattern

I made this 'Donna' into a shorter version for my toile due to lack of fabric.
If I could make suggestions though- if you could maybe shade the mirrored pattern pieces it might help beginners(+ others)to remember to turn those pattern pieces over before cutting.its and easy mistake to make especially if you are used to cutting your fabric folded.
I used almost a full reel of shirring elastic for this so make sure you have enough before you start.
Also I didn't need to gather the sort pieces- they fit perfect onto the stretched shirred pieces.Instructions say to just sew it straight to it but I wasn't sure it would work.🤔
Makes a gorgeous top though. I may make a version into a longer dress next time.

Hi Diane,

Thank you for taking time to leave a review for our 'Donna' Pattern. Your dress looks beautiful and thank you for sharing the picture!!!

Glad to know you found the pattern to be nice and were able to make a shorter version for your toile. Great feedback and I'll try to incorporate this at the earliest.

Hope to see many more Winslet's dresses (and other garments) from you. Thank you again.

Regards
Jess

What are the measurements that Winslet’s Patterns are designed for?
Our sewing patterns are initially designed based on a basic block drafted for a woman with the following measurements: height 5'6", bust 34", and waist 28", corresponding to size S on our size chart. From there, the patterns are graded both up and down to accommodate various sizes.
How do you define your pattern Skill Levels?
To ensure consistency in defining the skill levels of our sewing patterns,we have created a matrix to help you understand why we have assigned specific levels to each product. For detailed information on how we define our pattern skill levels and why certain patterns are categorized as such, please refer to the provided matrix.
How do I figure out the right size?
Before selecting a pattern size, take accurate measurements of your bust, waist, and hips. Choose the size from our chart that closely aligns with your measurements.
If your bust/waist/hip measurements align with different sizes, you would want to choose the size based on the apparel category or the garment fit and make adjustments to blend sizes. For example, prefer the size based on your bust measurement for making a top, and waist measurement for a relaxed dress cinched at the waist.
If your measurements fall between sizes, consider the fit you prefer (looser or tighter) and the type of fabric you'll use, as some fabrics have more give. All patterns include finished garment measurements which can be helpful to know how much ease or extra room is built into the design.
