Fast sew, maybe two hours total

From cutting the lycra to finishing the ties the whole Isla bikini took about two hours. That includes the time I spent carefully handling the stretch fabric to avoid distortion. The pattern is efficient and there are no wasted steps. A great quick project for summer.

Great pattern but elasticating the legs tricky

The triangle top and ties are well drafted and the fit in size M was spot on. The one step that took me a few tries was applying the leg elastic on the bottoms - getting the stretch ratio right at small scale took some practice. The guide explains the method but I needed to re-read it a couple of times. Once I got it right the finished bottom is neat and stays in place well.

Affordable way to get a custom swimwear set

Making your own swimwear is so much more economical than buying it once you have the pattern. I have made three Isla sets now in different prints and each cost a fraction of what ready-to-wear swimwear costs. The pattern is a great investment for anyone who swims regularly.

A0 print shop version laid out beautifully

I used the A0 file at my print shop and the single sheet had all the bikini pieces arranged very neatly. For a swimwear set with small and medium pieces this layout was very efficient. Cutting from the A0 sheet was quick and I had no alignment concerns.

Added extra length to the tie strings

The ties as drafted are a good length but I like to double knot mine at the neck, so I added 10cm to each tie piece when cutting. This was a very simple modification that made the finished top more comfortable for my preferred style. Everything else in the pattern was used exactly as written.
