Men's Short Sleeve Shirt Sewing Pattern 'Paul'

My husband is appreciative but not particularly expressive about clothing. When he tried this shirt on and it fit well he said thank you twice unprompted. That told me everything I needed to know about the pattern's result.

I had to press the front placket several times before it lay completely flat. The instructions covered this but I had underestimated how much pressing a placket actually needs. Once I took the time it looked completely correct.

Mid-range shirts often have raw or overlocked seams that fray over time. This one, with flat-felled side seams, is constructed to last significantly longer than most comparable bought shirts at a similar price point.

Shirt collars had kept me away from shirt patterns for years. The instructions here were the clearest I've found and I produced a collar with sharp points and an even stand on my first attempt. A genuine step forward.

I made size 40 for my husband and followed the finished garment measurements instead of guessing, which really paid off. The shoulders and chest fit well right out of the gate, and I only shortened the hem by about an inch. It looks neat without feeling restrictive, which was exactly what I wanted.
