Lovely skirt, waistband elastic can twist

My Mila turned out beautifully and I wear it every week. The one issue I've had is that the elastic in the waistband casing can twist slightly after washing, which means I have to straighten it occasionally. Adding a small vertical line of stitching through the casing at the side seams to anchor the elastic would prevent this. Overall still a five-star pattern though.

Added a ruffle trim to the bottom tier

I modified the Mila by adding a narrow self-fabric ruffle along the bottom hem of the lowest tier. I cut a long strip on the bias and gathered it slightly before attaching it over the finished hem. The ruffle adds a romantic touch without changing the clean lines of the tiers above it.

Tier ratios create a balanced silhouette

The Mila tiers are proportioned thoughtfully — the fullness increases as you move down the skirt which gives it a natural, flowing silhouette rather than a boxy one. As an intermediate sewer I can see that the pattern has been tested to get these ratios right. The resulting skirt is far more flattering than simpler tiered skirts I've made.
