I would not recommend the Ivory gown to a complete beginner because of the bias cut and delicate fabrics involved. That said the instructions are clearer than most formal patterns I have encountered and an experienced intermediate sewist will have no trouble. A genuinely beautiful result.

I had to do a small bust adjustment to add about half an inch at the bust seam, which is standard for me with most gown patterns. Apart from that the Ivory fit perfectly and the adjustment was easy to identify from the fitting instructions. Excellent pattern overall.
