Transfer pattern markings such as fold lines and notches to the wrong side of the fabric.
Mark center fronts where applicable to assist with assembly.
Seam Allowance
Please follow the seam allowances as indicated on the pattern file layers. These are provided specifically for each piece to ensure accurate construction.
This pattern uses a 1 cm (or 0.38 inch) seam allowance all around.
Step-by-Step Sewing Instructions
Step 1
Overlock the edges of both front pieces.
1a
Fold the front pieces towards the wrong side of the fabric along the designated fold line.
1b
Stitch and secure the fold along the edges on the back side of the fabric. Backstitch to lock the stitches. Repeat for the second front piece.
Step 2
Measure the required neck drop from the inner shoulder and stitch the two front pieces together for approximately 1 inch on the wrong side of the fabric.
Step 3
With the front bodice facing upward, twist the overlap by taking the right overlap to the left overlap, creating an X shape.
3a
Cross the overlap once more, ensuring the right overlap aligns with the right side of the bodice and the left overlap aligns with the left side.
Step 4
Flip the overlap on the front bodice so it faces the right side of the fabric and stitch the overlap to the bodice front. Repeat on the opposite side.
4a
Stitch on the wrong side of the fabric and secure all knots, ensuring there are no gaps between stitches.
Step 5
Bind the back neck using a bias-cut binding strip. Fold the binding strip inward, press thoroughly, and enclose the neckline edge within the binding before stitching.
Step 6
Place the front and back bodice together with right sides facing and stitch both shoulder seams.
Step 7
Create a basting stitch at the bottom of each sleeve and gather the fabric to the required wrist measurement.
7a
Cut the sleeve slit following the pattern guideline.
7b
Bind the sleeve slit using a bias-cut binding strip and stitch it in place while enclosing the sleeve fabric.
Step 8
Align the sleeve armholes with the bodice armholes, matching front and back notches with right sides together. Pin and stitch. Repeat for the second sleeve.
Step 9
Place the front and back bodice together with right sides facing and stitch the side seams and sleeve seams.
Step 10
Fold each cuff in half with right sides together and stitch the short ends. Repeat for the second cuff.
10b
Turn the cuff right side out. Align the cuff and sleeve with right sides together and stitch the inner edge of the cuff to the sleeve.
Step 11
Fold the cuff down and stitch the remaining cuff edge to the sleeve. Topstitch along the cuff to secure it in place. Repeat for the second sleeve.
Step 12
Attach buttons to the cuff at 1-inch intervals.
12a
Create buttonholes using a zigzag stitch. Cut open the center of each buttonhole using a thread cutter.
Step 13
Finish the top by hemming the lower edge. Fold the hem twice to the wrong side and stitch. Backstitch to secure the seam and ensure the raw edge is enclosed.
